May foodie penpals reveal!
This was my second month participating in the Foodie Penpals program created by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean. And once again, WOW! My penpal who sent to me, Gina, was super generous! I mean, look at all the good stuff she sent from Ohio!
The package contained:
- REAL Ohio Buckeyes (!!!)
- An adorable jar of strawberry preserves
- Organic Chocolate Paradise (small cubes of chocolate, coconut, nuts, etc.)
- Eden Organic Spicy Pumpkin Seeds
- Cacao nibs
- Biscoff cookies
In her card, Gina told me that she shopped at her favorite marketplace, Mustard Seed, to get me all my goodies. And the Buckeyes? Well, I’ve never had one before, so that was my one request: an authentic Buckeye. So Gina did me one better, and got me an entire bag! I had a couple (such creamy peanut butter centers!) and then made the rest into Buckeye cupcakes!
And the pumpkin seeds? Holy crap. We brought those with us when we saw the new Star Trek at the movies and snacked our way through them. So, so delicious.
I also have to come up with some good plans for the caco nibs, as well as the Biscoff cookies (I’m doing my best to resist them and instead use them in some baked goods). Overall, Gina sent such a fantastic package … I think I’m officially hooked on Foodie Penpals!
Now, another thing about the program is that you don’t send to who sends to you. So I sent my foodie gift to Tess of Cross Country Cajun. Want to find out what I sent her? Well go over to her blog, or check out the roundup of posts on The Lean Green Bean.
Now that you’ve heard how awesome this is, are you interested in joining in the fun? Then here are some details copied over from The Lean Green Bean:
- On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
- You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
- The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe … use your imagination!
- You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
- Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
If this sounds good to you, pop over to The Lean Green Bean and sign up before June 4th in order to be included in the next Foodie Penpal extravaganza. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out. This was a lot of fun!
