Cupcake Friday Project

A one-woman test kitchen meets nano-bakery

Announcement: An epic summer cupcake challenge

I’ve noticed lately on Pinterest that many of my recipes are being pinned and shared–which is fantastic! However, every time I see someone pin one of my recipes that I think needs some serious work, I cringe and want to comment, “Nooooo! Not that one!”

So, I think it’s time to revisit some of my recipe duds in an effort to improve them, that way I can bump the original recipe from the index (I’ll still keep the original post, just with a message and a link to the new and improved recipe). Let’s call this the Summer of Revisions (or something else catchy, if you can think of it).

I need your help narrowing down the recipes. I have selected 9 recipes, however I only want to do 2 a month for June, July, and August. That gives me 6 cupcake recipes to correct, improve, or completely revamp.

I figure I’ll keep things simple. Vote for the recipe you want me to revamp the most. The 2 recipes with the most votes will get reworked in June. Then there will be another vote for July, where 2 more recipes are now selected from a pool of 8, and so on. You can vote in person, via email, Facebook, Twitter, or comment here on the blog. And it’ll be fun, especially as I try to remember why things went so terribly wrong with some recipes, and hopefully correct them by 110%.

Without further ado, the Troublesome 9:

Blackberry cupcakes with vanilla frosting

Carrot cupcakes

Chocolate dipped chocolate cupcakes with orange cream cheese frosting

Cinnamon dulce de leche cupcakes

Pina colada cupcakes

Raspberry cupcakes with chocolate buttercream

Sprite’cakes

Sriracha chocolate cupcakes with whipped chocolate ganache

Vanilla cupcakes with apricot filling and toasted meringue

Not surprising, 7 of these are from 2011–when I first got started.

This little mini project will be replacing Breakfast Club and Cupcake Gauntlet for the summer (though knowing me, I’ll keep working on teaching myself new pastries), but those will be back in September.

All right, so let me know what you want to see for June! Remember, you can tell me in person, email me, leave a comment here on the blog, post on the Facebook page or Twitter.

Let’s fix some recipes!!!
