7+ Valentine’s Day gifts for the baker in your life
12 Feb
Valentine’s Day is 2 days away, so why not show the special baker in your life how much you appreciate them and treat them to something that will make them smile as much as their baking makes you smile?
You don’t have to go all-out and pick up a KitchenAid mixer … save that for Christmas, or a birthday, or better yet, don’t surprise them with something that major (bakers can be picky about our equipment).
Here are 7+ ideas for great Valentine’s Day gifts for your special baker. Pick one, pick a few and bundle them together (maybe in a new stainless steel mixing bowl), and show your love an appreciation for all that they do with sugar, flour and butter.
• A cupcake batter/cookie scoop. I like this . It’s easy to use and clean, and I get an even amount of batter into each of my cupcake tins every time. It may seem like something small, but anything that speeds up the process from mixer to oven for a baker is a boon.
• Cupcake corer. I received for my birthday last year and coring cupcakes hasn’t been the same since. Forget cutting out little cones. Forget using a melon baller or apple corer. Just insert this into the top of the cupcake, twist, pull out, and pop the little bit of cake into a bowl for munching later.
• Muffin pan necklace. How cute is t from Etsy seller ? I love the details.
• Apron. I have a bunch of different aprons, and even though I cover them in flour and chocolate, I love that they all have different designs. The first pretty apron I ever bought for myself was from Etsy seller . She has some wonderful designs, and multiple styles to choose from. Since my apron seems to be discontinued (it has the cutest owls on it), I would love , seen above (Actually, who am I kidding? I’d buy ALL of Boojiboo’s aprons if I could!).
• Cupcake t-shirt. For all the cupcake bakers out there, you’ve gotta have at least one cupcake t-shirt (I have 2). This from Etsy seller is super adorable, and I love how simple, yet effective, the design is. Both of my aforementioned cupcake t-shirts came from dressingOnTheSide and I really like how soft the shirts are.
And if you’re still unsure what to get your favorite baker, here are a few more ideas:
- A bottle of their favorite wine, beer or spirit. I know for me, I’d love a bottle of Hungarian Tokaij!
- Sweets. No, I’m not talking the typical stuff you can pick up in the supermarket. If you live in an area with a local candy shop, go support a small business! Some of my favorites are Speach Family Candy Shoppe in Syracuse, NY, any of the little places in Philly’s Reading Terminal Market (too many to name!), and Shane’s Confectionery in Philly.
- A full-day date. Plan everything from breakfast to dinner. This depends on how creative you are, but maybe you make them breakfast in bed, take a walk to your favorite park, play a board game, go to lunch at their favorite restaurant, visit a museum they’ve wanted to go to, etc. etc. Just make it fun and thoughtful, and it’s sure to be a hit!
Disclosure: I selected these items based on my own opinions; none of this is a paid promotion. In many cases, I own some of these items and think they’re just really spectacular.
I’m so behind on my blogs BUT, I actually saw that very jewelry in a shop in Portland this past weekend and it made me think of you. Crazy!
VERY cool! And get this? Ray bought me the heritage bundt pan for Valentine’s Day (his original plan fell through, and I’ve been talking about getting that pan for AGES, so he beat me to it!)
