Giveaway! ‘Be a Good Cookie’ spatula from OXO

Be a good cookie spatula--action shot!
As I mentioned on Monday, I’m participating in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap–benefitting Cookies for Kids’ Cancer–which has a a sponsorship from OXO. One of the perks of the swap (aside from helping out such a great cause AND swapping cookies!!!) is that OXO gifted each blogger with a “Be a Good Cookie” spatula.

Be a good cookie spatula from OXOI ended up with 2 spatulas, so I’d like to offer the second one up in this giveaway. I used the spatula last night as I baked my swap cookies (recipe to come in mid-December), and I really liked how easy it was to use.  The silicone outer covering makes it super easy to transfer cookies from the baking sheet to the cooling rack, and it’s just the right size so that your little ones can use it as they help in the kitchen … something I highly encourage since that’s how I got MY start in baking.

Tell me about your favorite cookie recipe in the comments section for a chance to win your own OXO “Be a Good Cookie” spatula.  Using a random number generator, I’ll select a winner and mail out the spatula.

This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only and will close at 9:00 PM EST on Sunday, Dec. 2.

And if you’re not selected, seriously think of purchasing a spatula: 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the spatula go to pediatric cancer research. It makes a great gift, and by making the purchase you are certainly being a “good cookie.”

UPDATE: And we have a winner! Kathy S. who said, “I love the Chocolate Chip cookie recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook” is the winner of the OXO”Be a Good Cookie” spatula. Hooray! Kathy, I already emailed you, so please send me your mailing address so I can get the spatula in the mail to you and you can start lifting cookies with it!

And thank you to everyone who participated in my little giveaway!

Disclosure: I received 2 “Be a Good Cookie” spatulas from OXO as part of my participation in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap in support of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. However, my opinions are my own.

My favorite cookie recipe is one that I made with my grandmother for several years as part of her regular Christmas baking. They are thumb print cookies rolled in pecan bits and filled with raspberry and apricot preserves. There are so many steps along the way but they are so pretty and tasty, I love to make them.

Ah, Christmas cookies! Every year, Mom made the “Prize Shortbread” cookies from the Five Roses Flour cookbook, and we kids helped with the process. Mostly, we decorated them, coating them with an unhealthy number of sprinkles. My little sister used to jam chocolate chips into them – not for decoration, but because she wanted to eat chocolate chip shortbread cookies!

Since I’ve moved out and gotten married, I make them for my own Christmases now and have gotten my in-laws into the baking tradition. I’m so glad to be keeping it alive.
